Marc Márquez is back on top — and this time in full Ducati red. The eight-time world champ stormed to victory in the Sprint race at MotorLand Aragón, giving the Ducati Lenovo Team a big boost with a confident ride from pole to flag. It’s Marc’s first Sprint win with the factory team, and he did it in style at one of his favourite tracks.
He had to work for it, though. After losing the holeshot to younger brother Alex Márquez, Marc stayed close and made his move at the start of lap six. From there, he pulled away and managed tire wear to cruise to the checkered flag.
“It was a bit trickier than I thought,” said Marc after the race. “I had some rear grip issues off the line, but this track really suits my riding, and I just kept pushing. It feels amazing to win here again, especially with Ducati.”

It was an all-Ducati show at the front, with Alex Márquez and Fermín Aldeguer joining Marc on the podium riding for Gresini Racing. Franco Morbidelli, now with the VR46 Racing Team, capped off the Italian brand’s dominance in fourth. Ducati swept the top four spots — a strong statement heading into Sunday’s main race.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t a dream day for reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia. The #63 rider had a rough go, dropping back early and never recovering, eventually finishing 12th and out of the points.
“I’ve been struggling all weekend,” admitted Bagnaia. “Even in qualifying, I didn’t have the front-end feel I needed. The bike wouldn’t hold in the corners, and I couldn’t push. We’re still tweaking things, so hopefully tomorrow goes better.”
Warm-up kicks off tomorrow at 9:40 a.m. local time, with the main 23-lap Aragón GP race starting at 2:00 p.m. Expect fireworks — especially with Marc Márquez now looking like a serious Sunday threat.
