Toni Bou picked up right where he left off.
With the 2026 FIM X-Trial World Championship returning from its winter break, the Repsol Honda HRC star delivered another statement performance in Leeds, taking victory at Round 6 and further tightening his grip on the title fight.
The British round marked the series’ long-awaited return to the UK after a decade away, and the sections wasted no time challenging the riders. Tight, technical and punishing, the course offered little room for mistakes, exactly the kind of environment where Bou thrives.
After a controlled ride through qualifying put him safely into the final, the defending champion turned up the intensity when it counted. Cleaning up small early errors, Bou rode with precision and composure in the decisive stages, edging out the competition in a nail-biting finish to secure the win by a single point.
It marked his fifth victory of the season and added another valuable haul to his championship tally, stretching his advantage at the top of the standings.
Despite not being at full physical strength, Bou was satisfied with both the result and its impact on the title race.
“I’m very happy with the result, especially for the championship,” he said. “It was really close, but this win is important. Now we focus on Barcelona.”
Tough night for Marcelli
Teammate Gabriel Marcelli endured a more difficult outing.
The Spaniard reached the final comfortably but a costly mistake early in the last run disrupted his rhythm. Despite pushing hard to recover, the lost points proved too much to claw back, ending his streak of podium finishes this season.
Still, his consistent start to the year keeps him second overall in the standings.
Eyes on Barcelona
With Bou now building a healthy cushion in the championship, Repsol Honda HRC leaves Leeds with momentum firmly on its side. The next stop is Barcelona on February 8, where the reigning champion will look to continue setting the pace and perhaps tighten his hold on yet another world crown.
