From Rossi’s dominance to Bagnaia’s blistering lap times, here’s a look at the fastest names and record-breaking moments in MotoGP history at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit.

When it comes to MotoGP history in Malaysia, the Petronas Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has witnessed some of the most thrilling performances and legendary riders in action. Over the years, Sepang has become a true battleground where world champions have pushed the limits of speed, skill, and endurance, creating unforgettable moments that continue to define the sport.

Most Wins at Sepang

Leading the all-time records, Valentino Rossi remains the undisputed “King of Sepang” with six race victories to his name. The Italian icon’s mastery of the circuit is still celebrated today, setting the benchmark for generations of riders to come.

Close behind, Dani Pedrosa has claimed three wins, while Marc Marquez has conquered the Malaysian circuit twice, each etching their own mark on Sepang’s storied history.

Most Pole Positions

In qualifying supremacy, Pedrosa once again leads the charts with five pole positions, proving his precision and consistency under pressure. Rossi follows with four poles, while Marquez rounds out the top three with three, showing how these titans dominated both qualifying and race day.

Modern records have seen a new wave of speed, led by Francesco Bagnaia, who in 2024 set both the all-time lap record and best pole lap at 1:56.337, showcasing Ducati’s unmatched pace and precision on Malaysian soil.

Top Speed Record – 2015

The record for top speed remains untouched since 2015, when Andrea Iannone blasted down Sepang’s long straights with the Ducati Desmosedici GP16 at a staggering 339.6 km/h, one of the fastest speeds ever recorded in MotoGP history.
