The MotoGP has officially confirmed that the 2026 MotoGP season launch will take place in Kuala Lumpur, marking a historic first for the championship with a full-scale city celebration in the heart of Malaysia’s capital.

Scheduled for 7 February 2026, the event will see MotoGP take over the iconic Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and its surrounding streets, transforming the area into a vibrant showcase of racing, entertainment, and culture. It will be the first time MotoGP stages its season launch in a major city centre, bringing the sport closer than ever to fans.

The week-long celebration will begin with a dedicated MotoGP Fan Zone inside KLCC Shopping Mall, running from 2 to 7 February, open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Fans can expect interactive exhibits, MotoGP displays, and immersive experiences highlighting the technology, teams, and riders that define the sport.

The main season launch festivities will take place on February 7, starting with a Pit Box-style motorcycle display at the KLCC entrance, allowing fans to get up close with the 2026 MotoGP machines. The day will then build toward a spectacular evening showcase held from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM beneath the iconic Petronas Twin Towers.

The evening programme will feature an urban bike run, a main stage rider welcome, and live music performances, combining motorsport and entertainment against one of the world’s most recognisable city skylines to officially kick off the 2026 MotoGP season.

Commenting on the announcement, Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP, said Kuala Lumpur was the ideal setting for such a milestone event.

“Kuala Lumpur is a city that embodies dynamism and excitement, making it the perfect stage for MotoGP’s season launch. We’re thrilled to bring this unique celebration to Malaysia and share the spirit of MotoGP with fans in Southeast Asia.”

With MotoGP choosing Kuala Lumpur for this landmark launch, Malaysia further cements its position as a key hub for motorsport in the region, setting the stage for an electrifying start to the 2026 season.
