The question that has been on the minds of Malaysian motorsport fans has finally been answered, Hakim Danish Ramli, 18, will make his long-awaited Moto3 World Championship debut at the 2025 Malaysian Grand Prix as a wildcard entry.

The announcement was made today by the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), confirming that the Terengganu-born rider will take to the track in front of his home crowd during the race weekend scheduled for 24th to 26th October 2025.

SIC Chief Executive Officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif said the opportunity is well-deserved, citing Hakim’s hard work and achievements on the international stage.

“Hakim Danish certainly deserves this wildcard ticket. Three years after the appearance of Syarifuddin Azman (Damok), Malaysians will once again see a local rider competing in the Moto3 competition with SIC,” said Shafriman.

He added that Hakim’s participation is not only a milestone for the young rider but also a testament to the success of the SIC Motorsports Development Blueprint (MDEV).

From grassroots to the world stage

Hakim’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. Starting with the SIC MiniGP Championship, he went on to win the Asia Talent Cup (ATC) in 2022 before progressing to Europe, competing in the European Talent Cup (ETC), the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup (RBMRC), and the FIM JuniorGP World Championship.

This year, he added another achievement to his name by finishing third overall in the RBMRC, a highly competitive series featuring the world’s best young riders.

According to Shafriman, Hakim’s rise proves the effectiveness of the partnership between the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and SIC in nurturing future champions through a structured development pathway.

“Hakim Danish is now a symbol of the nation’s hope to one day produce the first World Champion from Malaysia, as well as being a source of inspiration to the next generation of racers,” he added.

A call to Malaysian fans

Shafriman also urged Malaysian motorsport fans to come out in full force at Sepang to support Hakim in his Moto3 debut.

“I invite every fan to come to SIC, fill the grandstand seats, and together we give a thunderous cheer for our future champion at the Malaysian GP,” he said.

Hakim Danish’s appearance at Sepang will mark Malaysia’s first Moto3 wildcard since Damok in 2022, reigniting national pride and excitement as a new generation of riders carries the nation’s hopes on the world stage.
