Yamaha Partners with QUS Tech to Monitor Rider Performance in MotoGP and Moto2

The two-year partnership will support Yamaha’s Human Performance Engineering programme through advanced wearable biometric technology and physiological data analysis.

Yamaha Motor Racing has announced a new two-year partnership with QUS Tech GmbH, a technology company specialising in wearable biometric sensing solutions. 

QUS Tech will join Yamaha Motor Racing as an Official & Strategic Partner, with the collaboration focused on supporting Yamaha’s Human Performance Engineering (HPE) programme in MotoGP and Moto2.

The partnership will allow Yamaha to further explore how physiological data can be used to understand rider performance and support athlete development at the highest level of motorcycle racing.

QUS Tech develops wearable biometric sensors designed to capture physiological signals directly from the human body. The technology is integrated into specialised garments and connected to the company’s proprietary platform, allowing data to be collected in demanding environments.

For Yamaha, the technology will complement its existing engineering and racing expertise by providing additional data on the human side of motorcycle performance.

Yamaha’s HPE programme was established to apply scientific and engineering principles to rider performance, with the aim of turning physiological data into actionable information.

According to Yamaha, the programme is designed to improve understanding of the physical demands placed on riders and support their continued development across MotoGP and Moto2.

Beatrice De Marchi, Head of Human Performance Engineering at Yamaha Motor Racing, said the manufacturer views rider and machine performance as closely connected.

She stated that QUS Tech’s technology will allow Yamaha to monitor physiological signals more precisely and strengthen its data-driven approach to rider development.

Meanwhile, Felix Marx, Chief Executive Officer of QUS Tech GmbH, described the partnership as a significant milestone for the company.

Marx added that the partnership provides an opportunity to demonstrate the company’s body-sensing technology in an environment where rider performance is pushed to its limits.

The collaboration will combine Yamaha’s racing and engineering experience with QUS Tech’s biometric sensing technology, with the two companies aiming to gain deeper insight into how riders respond to the physical and physiological demands of MotoGP and Moto2 competition.

The two-year partnership forms part of Yamaha’s wider efforts to expand its engineering approach beyond motorcycle development and into the optimisation of human performance on the race track.
