Tech3 has confirmed that Senna Agius will make his MotoGP debut with the team in the 2027 World Championship, marking the 20-year-old Australian’s move to the premier class as MotoGP enters a new era of technical regulations.

Agius has emerged as one of the leading young riders in Moto2, building a reputation for his speed, consistency and ability to fight for race wins. He has already collected multiple victories and podium finishes in the intermediate class and is currently competing for a top-three position in the 2026 Moto2 championship.

The Australian’s rise through the Grand Prix ranks began in the Moto2 European Championship. After finishing runner-up in 2022, Agius returned the following season to claim the championship title.

He then stepped up to the FIM Moto2 World Championship in 2024, where he secured his first podium in the category during his rookie season. Since then, his performances have continued to establish him as a competitive rider at the front of the Moto2 field. Now, Agius will take the biggest step of his career with Tech3.

Agius to Join Marini for 2027

Agius’ signing completes Tech3’s 2027 MotoGP rider line-up alongside experienced Italian rider Luca Marini. The team says the pairing will combine Marini’s experience with Agius’ youth and potential as Tech3 begins a new chapter of its partnership with KTM under MotoGP’s incoming technical regulations.

For Agius, the move represents the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition: “Today, a lifelong dream of mine has come true: reaching MotoGP. So many years of hard work have gone into this moment, and I’m incredibly grateful to Guenther and everyone at Tech3 for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.I know the challenge ahead, but I’m ready to learn, work hard, and become the best version of myself with this team.

Tech3 Sees Long-Term Potential

Tech3 CEO Guenther Steiner said the team believes Agius has the qualities required to make the jump to MotoGP: “We believe Senna has the qualities to make a very strong step into MotoGP. He has shown impressive speed and maturity in Moto2, but what really stood out to us was his determination to keep improving and his attitude towards the work required to succeed.”

Steiner also added that the arrival of new technical regulations provides an opportunity for the team to develop alongside its young riders.

Tech3 Team Manager Nicolas Goyon similarly highlighted Agius’ speed and mentality, while acknowledging the challenge ahead for a rookie entering MotoGP alongside major changes to the machinery and regulations.

“Starting MotoGP with completely new regulations and machinery will be a big challenge for every rider, but it also gives us an opportunity to build something together from the beginning,” Goyon said.

With his Moto2 career still underway, Agius now has a MotoGP seat secured for 2027. His move will see the Australian join the premier class at a significant point in the championship’s history, with Tech3 looking to develop its new rider as it enters the next generation of MotoGP machinery.
