Aprilia Racing is set to launch its 2026 MotoGP season preparations with a busy testing schedule at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. The team’s first on-track appearance will be the Shakedown Test from January 29 to 31, where official test rider Lorenzo Savadori will take charge of development duties.

The programme continues at the same venue with the official MotoGP test from February 3 to 5. Marco Bezzecchi is scheduled to be on track alongside Savadori, as Aprilia pushes forward with the evolution of its new RS-GP26 machine.

Savadori will play a key role in the bike’s development across both test sessions, effectively standing in for Jorge Martín, who remains on a physical recovery programme. Martín underwent two revision surgeries in mid-December on his left scaphoid and right clavicle.

The decision to keep him off the bike during testing is aimed at ensuring a full recovery and optimal physical condition ahead of the season opener. Despite not riding, Martín will be present in Malaysia, closely monitoring the team’s progress and the ongoing development of the RS-GP26.

Savadori confirmed that the workload in Sepang will be extensive, covering all eight bikes, including those run by the Trackhouse MotoGP Team. He noted that numerous new technical solutions are scheduled for evaluation, not only during the Shakedown but also throughout the three days of official testing.

The Italian test rider expressed his eagerness to return to the track and continue refining the RS-GP26. He also stressed the importance of Martín’s full recovery, acknowledging that while his absence on track is unfortunate, ensuring he regains peak fitness before the season begins remains the top priority for the team.
