Packed with smart tech features like DVR cameras, adaptive lighting, and smartphone connectivity, the locally-assembled MODA Shifter 400X is ready to shake up the mid-size scooter segment.

The Malaysian scooter market welcomes a bold new entry with the official launch of the 2025 MODA Shifter 400X, an adventure-style scooter now available through MODA and distributed by MDua Motor Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of AFY Mobility Industries (AMI). Priced at RM23,888 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration), the Shifter 400X comes in two striking colours, Ninja Black and Ultra White, and is available at MODA dealerships nationwide. 

This launch marks MODA’s second model offering after the Sporter S 250 and introduces the brand’s new identity and philosophy “Because I Can” aimed at empowering riders to chart their own paths, define their journeys, and ride on their own terms. 

Assembled in Malaysia, the Shifter 400X is powered by a 333cc single-cylinder SOHC liquid-cooled engine with four valves. It produces 26.8 hp at 7,500 rpm and 33.5 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The scooter is Euro 4 compliant and uses a CVT gearbox with a belt final drive. 

Weighing in at 208 kg, the Shifter 400X comes with a 13-litre fuel tank and a seat height of 775 mm, making it approachable for a wide range of riders. It rolls on 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels, fitted with 120/70 and 150/70 tyres respectively. Braking is handled by front and rear hydraulic discs with dual-channel ABS and traction control for added safety.

Suspension duties are managed by telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Tech-wise, the Shifter 400X is fully loaded, it features front and rear DVR cameras with dual-lens recording, downloadable footage via a dedicated mobile app, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a 7-inch TFT-LCD digital display with auto ambient lighting, and dual charging ports (USB and 12V socket).

Security and convenience are further enhanced by an immobiliser key system with built-in anti-theft protection and geo-fencing, along with smartphone connectivity for both Android and Apple devices.  

For lighting, the Shifter 400X is equipped with full LED lights, including a four-element lenticle headlight with Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) for dynamic illumination in dark or cornering conditions. At the rear, it features a V-shaped LED tail light with Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) that activates during hard braking.    

With its rugged design, robust performance, and impressive tech package, the MODA Shifter 400X is a compelling new option in Malaysia’s adventure scooter segment.
