The Czech GP will return to the MotoGP calendar for the first time since 2020, as part of a five-year agreement with the Brno Circuit.

MotoGP is set to return to one of its most cherished venues, with the Czech Grand Prix at Brno making a comeback to the calendar in 2025 after a four-year break.

The iconic Automotodrom Brno, celebrated by fans and riders alike as a classic track, will host the world’s premier motorcycle racing championship for the next five seasons, from 2025 through 2029.

Brno has a storied history with MotoGP, having hosted over 50 Grands Prix since its debut in 1965. The event originally took place on a street circuit before moving to the Automotodrom Brno in 1987, where it remained a fixture on the MotoGP calendar until 2020, with the exception of a one-year break in 1992.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, the rights holder for MotoGP, expressed his enthusiasm for the return: “We’re delighted to be able to announce our return to Brno. It’s a classic, with a fantastic layout that has staged some really memorable moments in its long history in MotoGP.”

“We’re really excited to return and stage more, with the Tissot Sprint every weekend and even more for fans to enjoy on-site to get closer to their heroes than ever. We’ve seen the hillsides here packed with passion for our sport so many times – when it was the best-attended Grand Prix of the year on a number of occasions – and we’re very happy to bring MotoGP back to our fans in Czechia,” he added.

The exact date for the Czech Grand Prix’s return in 2025 has yet to be confirmed. Historically, the race was held in early August, a slot now occupied by Silverstone for the British Grand Prix.

However, with the UK round being rescheduled to May next year, the August slot may become available again, though it remains uncertain whether the Czech event will take that place.
