In just over 2 years since his GP debut, Pedro Acosta is gearing up for his first MotoGP appearance at the Valencia test.

Acosta’s MotoGP future began when he clinched a victory in only his second Moto3 race in Qatar 2021.

Rising through the ranks, the Spaniard secured the Moto3 title in his first season and grabbed three wins in Moto2. Despite challenges, Acosta wrapped up this year with a dominant championship win, sealing the deal with two rounds to spare.

KTM entrusted Acosta with a crucial role, placing him in the GASGAS Tech3 team for his highly anticipated MotoGP debut. Acosta acknowledges the emotional challenge of his final Moto2 race, focusing on cherishing the moment with fans and the Ajo team. However, his main focus shifts to Monday, where he aims to grasp the intricacies of a MotoGP team.

“I just want to understand how to ride this bike fast,” Acosta said, recognizing the support from KTM’s factory personnel at Tech3 as crucial to his learning process. The collaboration between Acosta and the experienced professionals is expected to speed up his adaptation to the demands of MotoGP.

As Acosta enters the premier class, the mystery of his race number persists. Teammate Augusto Fernandez currently uses #37, Acosta’s previous number. The 19-year-old teased, “You’ll see it on Tuesday morning when they open the garage!” Having used #51 in Moto2 with Fernandez, Acosta is about to unveil his new MotoGP identity, creating excitement among fans.

Tuesday’s Valencia test marks a crucial moment in Pedro Acosta’s burgeoning career, propelling him forward in his meteoric rise through motorcycle racing. Keep an eye on the young Spaniard, whose talent and determination have already made a lasting impact on the sport.
