Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR gets ‘Variable Air Intake’ System for 2024

Kawasaki has unveiled its latest Ninja ZX-10RR with major upgrades and improvements in performance.

Kawasaki stole the limelight recently with the launch of the latest generation Ninja ZX-6R which now comes with a Euro 5 engine.

The update sees the ZX-6R continue to be available in the global market with its competitors Yamaha R6 and Honda CBR600RR. Yamaha has halted sales of the R6 due to strict emission factors. On the other hand, the CBR600RR is only available in other markets that do not have restrictions on emissions.

In addition to the ZX-6R, Kawasaki also introduced the new Ninja ZX-10RR. The model has been updated with a ‘variable air intake system’ (VAI).

With VAI, the air box in the ZX-10RR now houses a movable air funnel. This allows an increase in the performance of the machine according to a certain RPM. When the funnel is in the upper position, the incoming air will bypass the VAI system and continue into the engine compartment. This aids in producing optimal performance of the bike.

To activate the VAI system, the machine features a racing ECU. So when in road configuration, the VAI system will not be activated and the air vents will remain in the up position.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR

For the record, this 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR continues to feature a 998cc four-cylinder engine. The engine is capable of producing 200hp and 114.9Nm.

This Ninja ZX-10RR also comes with ‘connecting rods’ of the Pankl brand titanium type and lighter pistons than the ZX-10R model. Interestingly, this ZX-10RR also has one less ‘piston ring’ compared to the standard model. A reduction in this also reduces friction in the engine.

Kawasaki Malaysia has yet to offer the Ninja ZX-10RR for the local market except for the ZX-10R.
