Many have wondered when Triumph’s new model would arrive in Malaysia. Triumph fans rejoice as the latest news by Triumph Motorcycles Malaysia revealed that the Triumph Tiger 1200 will arrive around the second quarter of this year.

The announcement is not a surprise as Fast Bike Sdn Bhd (as the official distributor of the Triumph brand in Malaysia) often brings in new models within a short period of the global launch date.

The good news also gives ample time for Triumph fans in Malaysia to save up while waiting for the arrival of the new model.

The development of the Tiger 1200 focuses on producing lighter and more powerful ‘adventure-touring’ machinery as well as injecting world-class specifications. As a result, Triumph managed to reduce weight up to 25 kilograms compared to the previous model and 17kg lighter than other competitors.

At the heart of the development of the Tiger 1200 is an engine with a new ‘T-Plane crank’ previously introduced on the Tiger 900 variant. ‘Crank T-Plane’ allows the engine to produce more efficient and energetic ‘rev’ at low and high rpm.

The 1160cc engine now produces 147hp at 9,000rpm and 130Nm at 7,000rpm – up 8.5hp and 8Nm over the previous generation.

For 2022, the Tiger 1200 now comes with the GT and Rally variants as well as the Explorer version which comes with a 30L tank and offers additional electronic features.

The Tiger 1200 GT and GT Pro come with electronic semi-active Showa suspension in addition to 19-inch front and 18-inch rear tires while the Rally and Rally Pro come with 21 ″ front and 18 ″ rear tires with wire-spoke type rims.

Meanwhile, the Tiger 1200 Explorer is complete with ‘blind spot detection system’-type safety features such as those found on the Ducati Multistrada V4, KTM 1290 Super Adventure S and BMW R 1250 RT.
