2021 Honda CB650R & Honda CBR650R get updates in Malaysia

2021 Honda CB650R & Honda CBR650R get updates in Malaysia

Boon Siew Honda announces the updated 2021 Honda CB650R and 2021 Honda CBR650R for the Malaysian market.

Boon Siew Honda introduced the middleweight Neo-Sports Café, the Honda CB650R and the CBR650R sports bike 2 years ago in January 2019. For 2021, both the models receive a major front suspension upgrade and a range of detail improvements to enhance comfort usability and practicality.

The Updates for 2021

Speaking of the updates, the 2021 Honda CB650R and CBR650R get a new 41mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston (SSBP) USD fork. Honda says a pressure separation damper in one fork tube and spring mechanism in the other deliver high damping performance and lighter weight. Additionally, the larger sized piston is said to increase feel, bump absorption and control.

Additionally, the new models get an under-seat USB Type-C socket for charging mobile devices, a revised LCD instrument cluster and revised headlight reflectors. In the case of the overall design, the bodywork of the 2021 Honda CB650R and CBR650R remain fairly similar to the ongoing models. However, the new 2021 Honda CB650R comes in two brand new colours: Candy Chromosphere Red and Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic. On the other hand, the Honda CBR650R is offered in Grand Prix Red and Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic.

Besides these updates, other mechanical components remain fairly similar to the ongoing models. Built around a diamond frame, both the bikes are powered by a 649cc, DOHC 16-valve inline-4 cylinder engine. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the CB650R and CBR650R push 93.8hp @ 12,000rpm and a peak torque of 63 Nm @ 8,500 rpm.  Braking is done via a pair of 310mm wave-pattern floating discs with four-piston radially mounted callipers up front and a 240mm disc with single-piston calliper at the rear. In the case of suspension, the updated 41mm Showa SSBP upside-down fork and a 10 stage preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear take care of suspension duties. Rider aids such as dual-channel ABS and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) are also standard on these two models as before.

2021 Honda CB650R & Honda CBR650R Price in Malaysia

2021 Honda CB650R is offered in two colours: Candy Chromosphere Red & Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic with a showroom price of RM 43,499 excluding road tax, insurance and registration fee. On the other hand, the 2021 Honda CBR650R is offered in Grand Prix Red Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic with a showroom price of RM 45,499 excluding road tax, insurance and registration fee.
