In making their comeback throughout the weekend, Andrea Saveri and the Ducati Corse eSport team produced stellar results. The 19-year-old, better known as “AndrewZh”, came in third in Race 1 at Mugello and seventh in Race 2 at Jerez Circuit in the first round of the 2020 MotoGP eSport Championship, which was held online yesterday.

AndrewZh, in controlling the virtual Desmosedici GP bike, had a good qualifying by finishing second on the front row. He missed the pole position for just a few thousandths of a second. In Race 1 at the Tuscany race track, Andrea got off the line well. After a few laps, he then dropped back in third. He remained third until the end of the competition, securing his first podium of the season.

In the second race in Jerez, Spain, the reigning 2019 MotoGP eSport Champion had difficulties coming his way. He got off the line from the first row once again, from the third position. In the early stages, he managed to stay at the front riding at a steady pace.

AndrewZh couldn’t defend his podium position as he ran out of fuel at the last corner. Eventually, he managed to cross the finish line seventh. He added precious points to his standing position, which is currently fourth, 25 points off the leader.

“The two races have been quite peculiar. I consider myself satisfied with the podium in Mugello, but in Jerez, I couldn’t make a good performance because I adopted a wrong strategy. Unfortunately, it is hard to overtake with the MotoGP20 videogame, and you have to risk more than what is necessary. For sure, this is not how I wanted to start the championship, but now I know where I need to improve and I hope to be able to fight for the victories in all the upcoming race!”
