The Honda CT125 Concept was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show back in October 2019. Good news, Honda is launching the production Honda CT125 Hunter Cub in their Virtual Motorcycle show this week. Want a super cub which can go offroad? Here it is!
Last year October, Honda introduced the concept of new CT125 / CT 125 at the Tokyo Motor. Honda recently announced their virtual motorcycle show which is set to take place this Friday, 27th March 2020. The Virtual motorcycle show was put forward by Honda as the Osaka and Tokyo motorcycle shows got cancelled this year because of the Covid-19 outbreak. Along with the models that are listed on the website, the Honda CT125 Hunter Cub is listed under production models. That’s not it, the CT125 Hunter Cub is already updated on Honda Japan website’s bike list too! That’s good news for us since the scrambler cub is finally confirmed to hit the streets soon!
2020 Honda CT125 Hunter Cub
Design
The CT125 Hunter cub attains its design quirks from the old CT110. However, the new upcoming CT125 hunter cub adapts modern design and facilitates touring and trekking to everyday life. So let’s look into the details!
-
The “CT” Muffler
One of the quirks that give a strong impression of the new Hunter cub is the muffler which echos design ques of the old CT110. The muffler with the protective cover following the old DNA gives a unique look to the bike.
-
Intake Duct
Honda’s attention to detail in the CT125 is outstanding. If we look closely, the CT125 has a high mounted intake and side air cleaner which has both the form and function. The high mounted intake is useful when going off dusty beaten paths while improving the esthetics of the bike.
-
Rear Carrier
So we know the CT125 is all about touring and exploring. Honda got us covered with their traditional carrier to aid the users in carrying their hobby/trekking accessories. The 409 mm x 477 mm carrier with loading hooks can load any hobby/trekking tools and accessories safely.
-
Pillion Step
Because of the rear carrier, you might be wondering if the CT125 is just a single-seater. Well, the CT125 can actually accommodate 2 people.
-
LED Lights
The CT125 features round LED headlamps and LED turn signals, this gives the bike a modern touch.
-
Digital Meter
The bike features a compact yet functional digital meter which provides essential information to the rider.
-
Seating
The right seat height, wheelbase and up handle ensure the rider can take a more relaxed posture when riding through the countryside. Addition to this, the seat, footpegs and the seating position further improve the safety of the rider when riding.
-
5.3L fuel tank
Neatly tucked under the seat, the 5.3L fuel tank improves the range of the bike, making it highly suitable for long-distance touring.
Riding Performance
-
Engine
The CT125 features an air-cooled 4 stroke 125cc engine. Set to perform well in various scenarios, such as touring to the suburbs, outdoor leisure, and towns. Additionally, the PGM-FI improves the fuel efficiency of the bike. According to sources, the engine performs decently in both low and medium speed as it was blueprinted for rough road usage. Also, Honda claims the CT125 Hunter Cub can do 61km per Litre!
-
Chassis
As Honda stated, the chassis of the CT125 is based on the Super Cub 125. However, in the case of the CT125, the rear frame extends to accommodate the carrier at the back. In addition, the overall design of the joints and linking of the forks in the chassis enhance safety and rigidity of the chassis under different riding conditions.
-
Brakes
Disc brakes at the front and back ensure the safety of the rider when the bike is fully loaded. On top of this, 1 channel Abs at the front wheel ensures safety when braking.

Honda CT125 Hunter Cub / Trail-Cub Pricing, Colour Options and Availability
The 2020 Honda CT125 Hunter Cub comes in two colour variants; Red and Brown. The Price of 2020 Honda CT125 Hunter Cub is 440,000 yen / US$4000 in Japan (excluding Tax).
According to sources, the Hunter Cub 125 is rumoured to be available outside of Japan too as there have been a number of patents filed in both Europe and the US.
In the case of Malaysia, there are no announcements on this bike. However, the idea of the Honda CT125 Hunder Cub coming into the Malaysian market seems pretty feasible. The current Honda C125 rolled into Malaysia soon after it was introduced a few years back. Given the CT125 and C125 are quite similar in nature we might be able to see the Hunter cub hitting the market sometime in the future. Well, we just have to wait patiently and see what Boon Siew Honda has to offer!
