Check out this custom Suzuki DR650 made by Spencer of Parr Motorcycles!

iMotorbike is back again with the custom and concept motorcycles! This time we have taken the liberty to introduce this custom Suzuki DR650 to you. A work by Spencer of Parr Motorcycles, this 2012 model is now an urban scrambler with a stunning exterior and quality interior.

Spencer is no stranger to the custom motorcycle scene and has achieved fame with his creations. Spencer has been at the limelight with his 2003 Suzuki DR650 that became a tribute to the Suzuki RM400. Due to the fact, the DR has proven to be a perfect base, Spencer has taken the opportunity once again to work with the bike. This time, he managed to get a donor bike that clocked less than 3,000 miles.

“I already knew to go into the build I was going to make an urban scrambler that was easy to ride but performed at the highest level. Since retro builds seem to be my thing, the design concept for this bike comes from a 70’s Suzuki TS,” says Spencer as quoted from Pipeburn.

TS lineup was an early dual-sport. It is rather lightweight and reliable, perfect for the busy roads. The DR, on the other hand, is much bigger and gives more space for creativity.

“The bike was torn down and I chopped off the old subframe and created a whole new subframe that lowered the seating position to go with the scrambler theme,” he adds.

Spencer integrated new electronics to the bike under the seat, to avoid any harsh lines. He also replaced most of the factory bolts and bearings. “Next was to mount and level the 78 Suzuki TS250 spray painted gas tank that I picked up from Canada.”

The exterior of the bike is rather vibrant, with the colours blue, orange and white. The paint scheme gives the bike a very energetic look. It is then topped off with a neatly-stitched leather seat with blue thread and finished with white fenders from a 73-75 Suzuki TM.

There is also a very sentimental value in building this bike. “This build also means so much to me because I was building it when my baby girl was born. So, when this one leaves the garage, it will be hard to see it go.”
