The Ducati Lenovo Team is ready for the Malaysian Grand Prix, the 20th round of the 2025 MotoGP season. The race at the Sepang International Circuit marks the team’s final stop before returning to Europe. The red bikes will once again feature Francesco Bagnaia and Michele Pirro. Marc Márquez, the current World Champion, continues his recovery from surgery and will not take part in the event.

Sepang, located just outside Kuala Lumpur, has hosted MotoGP races since 1999. The circuit is famous for its long straights, fast corners, and unpredictable weather. It’s also one of Ducati’s most successful tracks, with eight victories in total. Loris Capirossi won in 2005, followed by Casey Stoner’s double wins from 2007 to 2009. After several years without a win, Andrea Dovizioso brought Ducati back to the top in 2016 and 2017. More recently, Bagnaia triumphed in 2022 and 2024, while Enea Bastianini took victory in 2023.

After a difficult weekend in Australia, Bagnaia arrives in Malaysia looking to bounce back. He suffered two crashes at Phillip Island but still showed determination and strong pace. The Ducati Lenovo Team has worked hard to analyze the data and improve the Desmosedici GP. With its long straights and heavy braking zones, Sepang is a circuit that plays to Ducati’s strengths.

Michele Pirro also feels confident heading into this round. As Ducati’s official test rider, he has completed many laps at Sepang during winter testing. The familiarity of the track gives him a solid base for the weekend. The team hopes to use that knowledge to fine-tune the setup and continue gathering valuable information.

The first free practice session takes place on Friday, October 24th at 10:45 a.m. local time. Both riders aim to start the weekend strong and fight for important points at one of MotoGP’s most demanding circuits.

Francesco Bagnaia (#63 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 3rd (274 points)

“I’m coming from a tough weekend with two crashes between the Sprint and the main race. I’m not happy about the results, but I know I gave everything to recover and stay with the leading group. We’re still working hard to understand the bike’s behavior and improve our consistency. Here at Sepang, we have data from the February test, which should help us find a clear direction.”

Michele Pirro (#51 Ducati Lenovo Team)

“Phillip Island was a tough place to return to racing. It’s a physical track and very demanding. Sepang feels much more familiar because I’ve tested here several times with the Desmosedici GP. We have more reference points, and that makes me more confident. Our goal is to keep working, collect data, and make progress step by step.”
