For the first time ever, Ducati is jumping into the wild world of motocross with the brand-new Desmo450 MX. Built with help from motocross legends Tony Cairoli and Alessandro Lupino, this is Ducati’s first serious off-road machine. It’s packed with cutting-edge tech, big performance, and that unmistakable Ducati spirit.

Racing Roots, Ducati Spirit

Following Ducati’s long-standing philosophy of innovating through racing, the Desmo450 MX borrows extensively from experience gained in MotoGP and Superbike. It blends world-class performance with groundbreaking new features tailored for dirt. It is the only motocross bike in its category powered by a Desmodromic valve system. This sets a new benchmark for engine performance and responsiveness.

Designed to be fast, light, and rider-friendly, the Desmo450 MX promises thrilling performance whether you’re a seasoned pro or a weekend warrior. Thanks to a carefully crafted aluminium frame, lightweight construction, and a unique Traction Control system — a first in the motocross world — this bike delivers speed, stability, and confidence in equal measure.

A Masterpiece of Engineering

At the heart of the Desmo450 MX is a 449.6cc single-cylinder engine featuring Desmodromic distribution. It is capable of producing 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and 53.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine offers exceptional torque at low revs while maintaining blistering top-end performance. The rev limit is set at a stunning 11,900 rpm, a new standard for the 450 class.

The engine’s smooth, linear power delivery ensures less fatigue during long races. This makes it more accessible for riders across all skill levels. Ducati’s clever cooling system — featuring innovative rhomboid-shaped radiators — also ensures optimal engine temperature even under the most demanding conditions.

Revolutionary Electronics for the Dirt

Perhaps the biggest game-changer is Ducati’s revolutionary Traction Control system, offering precision rear-wheel slip management based on real-time dynamics. This patent-pending system enhances safety and boosts performance without interfering with the natural feel of motocross riding. It even smartly disables itself during jumps or can be manually overridden by the rider — an industry first.

Other electronic features include Launch Control, Engine Brake Control, and a Quickshifter, all tunable via the Ducati X-Link app. With two customizable Riding Modes, riders can tweak the bike’s behavior to suit different tracks or personal preferences.

Championship-Winning Chassis and Components

Built around a perimeter aluminium frame weighing just 8.96 kg, the Desmo450 MX prioritizes strength, rigidity, and reduced mass. Showa, with its deep motocross racing heritage, supplies the fully adjustable suspension, while Brembo — Ducati’s long-time partner — delivers the braking system, featuring floating calipers and Galfer discs for outstanding stopping power.

With a ready-to-ride weight (excluding fuel) of just 104.8 kg, the Desmo450 MX promises razor-sharp handling without compromising durability.

Built for Performance, Built for You

Ducati understands the needs of motocross riders both on and off the track. The Desmo450 MX has extended maintenance intervals — 45 hours for piston replacement and 90 hours for a full engine overhaul — helping riders spend more time riding and less time in the garage.

Through the Ducati Performance catalogue, enthusiasts can transform their bike into a full Factory Replica of the MXGP World Championship racers Jeremy Seewer and Mattia Guadagnini, complete with CNC-milled parts, Akrapovič titanium exhausts, and exclusive race-spec accessories.

Arrival and Availability

The Ducati Desmo450 MX will start rolling into selected European dealerships in June 2025, with North America following in July, and distribution to the rest of the world soon after.

A bold new era has begun for Ducati — and for motocross riders everywhere.
