In an exciting debut season, Ducati’s Desmo450 MX secured its first Motocross title. Alessandro Lupino, Ducati Corse Off-Road’s official rider, won the Italian MX1 Motocross Championship. The final round occurred at Arco di Trento, where Lupino sealed the victory. Ducati’s motocross program now stands as a success after its inaugural season.
A Season of Breakthroughs with the Desmo450 MX
The Desmo450 MX impressed from the start. It debuted with a victory in Mantua, surprising many. Throughout the season, the team improved the bike’s performance. Lupino’s consistent results helped secure Ducati’s first major off-road title. At Arco di Trento, he needed only a fourth-place finish to claim the championship. He went on to finish third overall for the day.
Alessandro Lupino Reflects on a Special Year
Lupino expressed his pride in Ducati’s first motocross season. “At the first race in Mantua, I didn’t know what to expect,” Lupino admitted. “But as the season progressed, we made huge improvements.” Lupino praised Ducati’s commitment to the project, saying the whole team worked tirelessly. He also took on the role of a test rider during development. “Winning the Italian title in our debut season was not expected. This victory belongs to the entire team,” Lupino added. “In Ducati, I found a family. This year has been special.”
The Future of Ducati’s Off-Road Program
Ducati’s success in motocross continues beyond this championship. Jeremy Seewer will begin testing the Desmo450 MX for the 2025 MXGP season. A second rider will join him for further development. Ducati is also working on a 250cc version of the bike for the MX2 class. Lupino and Antonio Cairoli will test the new 250cc model soon. Ducati plans to introduce the MX2 bike in the 2025 domestic series. This approach mirrors the development of the Desmo450 MX.
The Desmo450 MX will be available for order in early 2025. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in June. Ducati’s debut in motocross is a game-changer, with plans to expand its off-road lineup.
