DAB Motors introduces the DAB 1α, a translucent electric motorcycle blending fashion and gaming aesthetics, redefining two-wheeled design for style-conscious riders.

Bayonne, France-based DAB Motors has embraced motorcycles as fashion items. Their new creation, the DAB 1α Transparent Edition, blends gaming console aesthetics with electric motorcycling. The bike features a translucent body, showcasing its inner mechanics like a piece of modern art.

Motorcycles have long been criticized as “butt jewellery”—mere fashion accessories for enthusiasts. DAB Motors is challenging this view by fully committing to the fashion world. The DAB 1α is a quirky, 8-bit-inspired design that combines retro gaming vibes with cutting-edge technology. Its plastic body, reminiscent of vintage game consoles, offers a peek at the internal workings.

The bike’s standout feature is a custom game cartridge start key. This unique element enhances the bike’s appeal to gaming fans. DAB Motors, a subsidiary of Peugeot, describes itself as “on a quest for singularity.” This bold approach aims squarely at fashionistas and collectors.

The Times of London recently highlighted the 1α Transparent Edition. It declared it “the fashion set’s favourite new motorbike.”

The feature appeared in the luxury section, not the motoring one, underscoring the brand’s target audience. DAB’s collaboration with fashion designer David Koma has further pushed the brand into the fashion spotlight. Together, they created six custom 1α models, each costing €19,900. These versions offer only minor differences from the standard €14,900 model, including a fuzzy seat cover.

DAB’s dive into fashion recalls Triumph’s use of the Bonneville in photo shoots. However, DAB has taken things much further. The DAB 1α embodies a “motorcycles as art” mentality, with even colourful Brembo brakes adding to its aesthetic. It’s not just a motorcycle; it’s a stylish statement on wheels.

Currently, the DAB 1α is still available for pre-order. Sales are expected soon, but the hype continues to build for now. Whether you’re into fashion, gaming, or both, the DAB 1α offers something new—a blend of style and tech beyond conventional motorcycling.
