MotoGP: Virtual Grand Prix of Spain Line-Up and Details Announced

After the successful MotoGP Virtual race 1 and 2, Dorna recently announced the Red Bull Virtual Grand Prix of Spain. Here is everything you need to know about the Virtual Spanish Grand Prix happening this weekend!

After MotoGP’s first-ever Virtual Race around Autodromo del Mugello, the Virtual Race 2 was announced. The Virtual Race 2 broadcasted on 12th April 2020 was a massive success with 75 million impressions (a 25% increase from the first virtual race). On top of this, there was also an increase in the video views from 13 million to 14 million. Aside from this, the second virtual race’s live hit 3.2 million views!

After a record-breaking success with the virtual races, Dorna recently announced the Red Bull  Virtual Grand Prix of Spain! Here is everything you need to know about the virtual Spanish GP which is set to go live on the original date of the Spanish GP!

The event is in aid of the official charity of MotoGP™, Two Wheels for Life, and will be broadcast at 3 pm (GMT +2) on Sunday the 3rd of May – with all three Grand Prix classes will racing it out on the eSport stage for the first time ever.

Here is everything you need to know about the World’s first virtual GP:

In the MotoGP grid, there will be 11 riders and they will compete over 13 laps; equivalent of 50% of the race distance.  On the other hand, Moto2 and Moto3 grids both comprise 10 riders competing over eight laps; which is 35% of the race distance. In addition, for the first time since its release on the 23rd of April, the riders will now be playing on the new official MotoGP 20 Videogame from videogame developer and publisher Milestone.

Note: This time, highlights from qualifying will be shown before the three races, with those sessions set to decide the grid before the broadcast. The order will follow a normal Grand Prix weekend as Moto3 race first, followed by Moto2 and MotoGP take to the stage thereafter.

Fans can watch the race on selected TV channels, official MotoGP website and MotoGP/ MotoGP eSport social media platforms; Youtube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

There will also be a post-race Press Conference for each class on MotoGP’s Instagram. ( Time slot: MotoGP at 17:00, Moto2 at 17:30 and Moto3 at 18:00)
