The HRC Honda team has started its preparation for the 2026 FIM Superbike World Championship with a two-day test at Jerez Circuit in Spain. Factory riders Jake Dixon and Somkiat Chantra had their first ride on the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade under cold but sunny conditions.
The session allowed both riders to settle into the Honda HRC garage, meet their crew chiefs, and familiarise themselves with the team’s working methods. Dixon worked with Tom Jojic, while Chantra joined Tetsuya Sasaki, all under Team Manager Yuji Mori. Test rider Tetsuta Nagashima also took part in the session.
Over two days, both riders completed more than 100 laps, including several long runs. The focus was on building confidence with the bike, learning the electronics, testing ergonomics, and providing early feedback to engineers. This initial step helps the team prepare for a stronger start to the 2026 season.
The next test is scheduled at Jerez on 21–22 January, after the winter break.

Somkiat Chantra – #35
“It was great to take part in the first test with Honda HRC. I focused on learning the bike and understanding the tyres. Each day we made progress, and I’m happy with the results. My goal is to do more laps and build confidence with the CBR, especially when braking and stopping the bike. The GP bike and the CBR1000RR-R are very different, but we are finding ways to adapt. Overall, I am very happy with the test and the support from the team.”

Jake Dixon – #96
“This first test as a Honda HRC rider went really well. Being back on a big bike is great, but it’s a big learning curve. I had a couple of crashes while learning, but the team has been fantastic. I completed many laps, mainly using the hardest tyre. Coming from Moto2, the electronics and power are very different. I need more time to get the perfect lap, but in terms of rhythm, it’s going well. I’m excited to continue learning and growing as a WorldSBK rider.”
