MotoGP is set to make a spectacular return to Buenos Aires in 2027, with the iconic Autodromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez chosen as the new host for the Grand Prix of Argentina. The announcement marks a major milestone for the sport in South America, with circuit renovations scheduled to begin this October.

Located just outside the capital, the Autodromo Gálvez has a storied history with MotoGP, having hosted races in the 1960s, 1980s, and 1990s. The venue will now undergo a full transformation, modernizing its track layout, paddock, pit lanes, safety zones, and infrastructure to meet the latest international standards.

Jorge Macri, Chief of Government of Buenos Aires, emphasized the city’s global sporting ambitions: “We are consolidating our city’s sporting leadership. MotoGP’s return places Buenos Aires among the world’s elite circuits once again. The upcoming renovations will turn Gálvez into a venue fit for the world’s top riders and teams, welcoming over 150,000 fans and millions more watching worldwide.”

The return to Buenos Aires is seen as a massive opportunity for the local economy and tourism. Orly Terranova, CEO of Grupo OSD, said the event would bring huge economic impact and international attention: “This is something many capital cities are fighting for. Hosting MotoGP here will boost our local motorsport scene and attract global tourism.”

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports, shared the excitement: “Buenos Aires will be a flagship venue not only for Argentina, but for Latin America and the world. The passion of the Argentine fans is unmatched, and we’re thrilled to be coming back with a world-class event.”

Following the final race at Termas de Río Hondo, Argentina will only have a one-year break from the world’s premier motorcycle championship before MotoGP lights up Buenos Aires in 2027.
