Franco Morbidelli will not participate in this weekend’s Czech Grand Prix at Brno, as the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider continues to recover from a shoulder injury sustained during a crash in the Sachsenring Sprint race.

The Italian, currently fifth in the championship standings, skipped Sunday’s main race in Germany to undergo rest and evaluation. After returning to Italy for further medical checks and physiotherapy, Morbidelli and the team decided that he would sit out Round 12, extending his summer break.

“Following two days of medical checks, physiotherapy sessions and rest, we decided together with the team to miss this GP at Brno,” Morbidelli said. “It doesn’t make sense to take risks, because the pain is still persistent. It’s not an easy moment, but I’ve received a lot of support from my team, the VR46 Riders Academy and all the fans.”

Although he won’t be racing, Morbidelli confirmed he will still be present in Brno to continue working with his staff and to undergo on-site physiotherapy, aiming for a full recovery ahead of the next round at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.

Morbidelli is the second high-profile absence from the Brno GP, joining Maverick Viñales, who is recovering from a shoulder fracture sustained in Q2 at the Sachsenring. Viñales will be temporarily replaced by Pol Espargaro at Red Bull KTM Tech3.

MotoGP fans will now look toward Austria in August, hoping both Morbidelli and Viñales return fit and ready for the second half of the season.
