MotoGP Extends Barcelona-Catalunya Contract Until 2031

MotoGP will continue racing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya until at least 2031, following a contract extension announced. The iconic Spanish circuit, which first hosted a Grand Prix in 1992, has been a staple on the calendar for over three decades and remains one of the most popular venues among fans and riders alike.

The Catalan GP was recognized as the Best GP of 2024, thanks to its thrilling Championship-deciding Solidarity GP and passionate fanbase. With this new agreement, MotoGP will add even more chapters to its storied history in Barcelona, a city renowned for its motorsport heritage.

Miquel Sàmper, Minister of Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia and President of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, emphasized the importance of the renewal: “We celebrate this deal, which strengthens Catalonia’s connection to motor racing. Securing the MotoGP Grand Prix until 2031 is excellent news for Catalonia’s reputation as a host of premier international sporting events.”

Pau Relat, President of Fira de Barcelona and Fira Circuit, highlighted the circuit’s commitment to delivering world-class events: “We are very pleased to continue hosting MotoGP, a championship that has been linked to the Catalan track since 1992 and has an enormous worldwide impact. Our goal is to ensure that the Grand Prix meets the highest standards and offers an unforgettable experience for fans.”

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports, praised the circuit’s significance to the championship: “We’re very happy to pen this new agreement with the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. They never fail to deliver a world-class fan weekend with impressive attendance figures. The track’s close connection to Barcelona, one of the world’s most culturally relevant cities, makes this a winning combination for MotoGP.”

Looking ahead to 2025, the next Catalan GP will take place from September 5th to 7th, 2025, promising another weekend of top-tier motorcycle racing. Fans can look forward to more high-speed action at one of the sport’s most iconic venues.
