As the 2025 Superbike World Championship nears, Honda HRC has launched its campaign with a digital presentation on February 10. The event introduced the team’s new livery, technical upgrades, and goals for the season. Factory riders Xavi Vierge and Iker Lecuona, alongside manager José Escámez, discussed the challenges and expectations ahead.

A Striking New Look and Stronger Support

The 2025 CBR1000RR-R features a refreshed livery and a new sponsor, Ixon. A partnership with Öhlins aims to enhance suspension. Honda continues working with key partners such as Motul, Akrapovič, Nissin, One Heart – Satu Hati, ASICS, Bonamici Racing, NGK, RK, Shindengen, STM, and Pirelli.

The digital launch streamed on Honda HRC’s Facebook and YouTube channels. It highlighted key updates and aspirations for the season. The team aims to build on 2024’s progress and push for top results in 2025.

Winter Development and Testing

Honda’s engineers refined all aspects of the CBR1000RR-R, including setup, electronics, and suspension. The team tested at Jerez Circuit in Spain and Algarve in Portugal. Before the championship starts, they will have a final test at Phillip Island on February 17-18. The season opener follows at the same venue from February 21-23.

Xavi Vierge: Aiming for a Competitive Start

Marking his fourth season with Honda HRC, Vierge expressed confidence in the team’s steady progression. He emphasized a methodical approach over rushing development.

“We finished last season strong. The goal is to start 2025 at that same level. If we do that, we can take the final step,” Vierge said.

A notable change is a new crew chief, whose experience he hopes will contribute to improvement. The shift to Öhlins suspension also requires careful adaptation.

“Honda’s commitment keeps us motivated. The increased collaboration between the Japanese and European teams reassures us that we’re heading in the right direction,” he added.

Iker Lecuona: Overcoming Challenges and Striving for Consistency

After battling injuries in 2024, Lecuona is eager to start 2025 strong. He is optimistic about his condition and building on last year’s success.

“I think I’ll be 100% for Australia, or at least 95%, but I’ll be ready to fight,” Lecuona said.

Phillip Island’s unique layout presents challenges. Lecuona plans to approach the opening round without excessive expectations.

“I’ve learned to take things session by session. Phillip Island hasn’t always been kind to me, but I’ll arrive prepared,” he explained.

His improved synergy with crew chief Tom Jojic was crucial in his late-season form.

José Escámez: Leading Honda HRC into a New Era

Reflecting on his first year as Honda HRC’s team manager, Escámez described the experience as both demanding and rewarding.

“It’s more challenging than I expected. Winning is never easy, but we’re working tirelessly to get back on the podium,” Escámez said.

Honda HRC is expanding collaboration with its European base to speed up development and testing. The team aims to maintain 2024’s consistency and improve further.

While specific bike developments remain undisclosed, Escámez assured fans that Honda is focused on refining weak areas.

Looking Ahead to the 2025 Season with Honda HRC

With an improved machine, experienced riders, and a dedicated team, Honda HRC enters 2025 with confidence. The pre-season tests in Phillip Island will provide final insights before the season begins.

Both Vierge and Lecuona are determined to fight at the front. With the team’s growing support network, Honda HRC aims to make a strong impact in the championship.
