LCR Honda Unveils 2025 MotoGP Livery in Bangkok

Honda’s satellite team LCR officially showcased its 2025 MotoGP machines for Johann Zarco and rookie Somkiat Chantra in Bangkok on Saturday, marking a historical milestone ahead of the new season.

Both Zarco and Chantra travelled to the Thai capital following the conclusion of the Sepang MotoGP test on Friday to attend the team’s highly anticipated launch event.

As in previous years, LCR continues with a split-livery approach for its two Honda RC213V race bikes. One-time grand prix winner Zarco retains the white-and-green Castrol-backed design, while Thailand’s first MotoGP rider, two-time Moto2 champion Somkiat Chantra, takes over the Idemitsu-sponsored white-and-red machine, following the retirement of Takaaki Nakagami.

Chantra steps up to the premier class after notable Moto2 victories in Indonesia in 2022 and at Motegi in 2023, bringing local excitement to his debut season in MotoGP.

Castrol, which has partnered with the French-run LCR squad since the mid-2010s, has increased its MotoGP presence by taking over from the iconic Repsol as the title sponsor of the factory HRC team in 2025.

Meanwhile, Japanese petroleum giant Idemitsu remains committed to promoting Asian talent in motorsport, having previously backed Nakagami’s six-year tenure in the premier class. With LCR’s official unveiling complete, all teams on the grid have now revealed their 2025 liveries, setting the stage for an intense season ahead.

The team’s ambitions for the year rest on Honda’s ability to improve its struggling RC213V package and close the performance gap to its European competitors and Yamaha. LCR outperformed the factory HRC squad in 2024, finishing 10th in the teams’ standings. Both Zarco and Nakagami also amassed more points than HRC’s Joan Mir and Luca Marini.

Zarco delivered Honda’s best individual result last year with a P8 finish at the Thai Grand Prix and emerged as the highest-ranked Honda rider in the championship, finishing 17th overall. Despite the manufacturer enduring its worst-ever season in MotoGP, Zarco remains with the marque, hoping for a turnaround in 2025.
