PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda has officially revealed its rider line-up for the 2025 World Superbike Championship (WSBK) and Supersport (WorldSSP) seasons, featuring two Malaysian talents, Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi and Syarifuddin Azman, also known as Damok.
Two-time Asian champion Zaqhwan Zaidi will step into the WorldSBK premier class, replacing fellow Malaysian Adam Norrodin. Zaqhwan will team up with Britain’s Tarran Mackenzie, who enters his third season with the squad.
Meanwhile, Damok, previously a Moto3 competitor in the World Motorcycle Championship, will compete in the WorldSSP category, taking over from Khairul Idham Pawi. Damok will join forces with Japan’s Kaito Toba, who returns after a promising 2024 campaign.
Last season, Adam Norrodin struggled with injuries and ended the year without scoring points, placing 29th in the WorldSBK standings. Khairul Idham Pawi finished 37th in WorldSSP with three points.
For the 2025 season, the team will continue to field Honda’s CBR1000RR-R in the WorldSBK category and the CBR600RR in the WorldSSP class.
Team owner Midori Moriwaki expressed optimism about the new line-up, stating, “Each rider brings their own experience, and with this line-up, we continue to strengthen our talent development programme. We are confident that we can achieve good results while facing new challenges. Thank you to all sponsors for their continued support,” he said.
The inclusion of Zaqhwan Zaidi and Syarifuddin Azman highlights the team’s dedication to offering Malaysian riders an international platform to showcase their abilities. With a balance of seasoned experience and youthful energy, PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda is setting its sights high for the upcoming season.
