Classic Legends has introduced the Jawa 42 FJ in India. This new model honours František Janeček, Jawa’s founder. The Jawa 42 FJ is a sportier version of the classic motorcycle. It appeals to riders seeking modern performance with vintage looks. Prices start at Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec version costs Rs 2.20 lakh.

What Sets the Jawa 42 FJ Apart?

The Jawa 42 FJ is not just an update but a new iteration. It was launched after the Jawa 42 received a powertrain update on August 13. The 42 FJ aims to compete in the 350-500cc segment, where Royal Enfield dominates. It offers a sporty, elegant design for those wanting a modern classic.

Design and Features

The Jawa 42 FJ is the second addition to the Jawa 42 family. It features dual-tone paint and sleek body panels. Key design elements include a narrow seat and a new headlight bracket. The brushed aluminium cladding adds a premium touch. The motorcycle also has an offset fuel cap and a larger fuel tank. The offset digital speedometer and LED headlamps are modern touches. Diamond-cut alloy wheels are standard, with an option for spoke wheels. The wide handlebar and upswept tailpipes complete the look. The body decals resemble those on the Royal Enfield Hunter 350.

Comfort and Ride Quality

The Jawa 42 FJ offers a comfortable riding experience. The seat height is 790mm, accessible for most riders. The motorcycle has chunky rear tyres and a 320mm front disc brake. Its long wheelbase and good ground clearance ensure stability. The 41mm front forks provide 135mm of travel. Preload-adjustable rear shocks offer 100mm of travel. Dual-channel ABS and dual disc brakes are standard. No single-channel ABS variant is available at launch.

Performance and Powertrain

The Jawa 42 FJ shares its engine and suspension with other Jawa 42 models. However, the engine in the 42 FJ has a higher tune. It produces 29.1hp and 29.6Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission. A slipper clutch ensures smooth gear shifts.

Final Thoughts

The Jawa 42 FJ is a bold step for Classic Legends. It combines modern performance with classic design. Its sporty look and enhanced features make it stand out. The 42 FJ competes with Royal Enfield and TVS Ronin. Priced competitively, it offers a strong alternative in the market. Whether it can dethrone Royal Enfield is yet to be seen. However, the 42 FJ is a compelling choice for motorcycle enthusiasts.
