MV Agusta has issued an official statement addressing recent reports surrounding the company’s financial situation, shareholder discussions and alleged production stoppage.
Earlier this week, reports claimed that MV Agusta had halted motorcycle production due to financial difficulties and weaker-than-expected sales. There were also reports that the Italian manufacturer had been in discussions with Chinese motorcycle company CFMOTO over a potential acquisition of a 49% stake in MV Agusta.
However, MV Agusta did not name CFMOTO in its statement and did not confirm that production had been halted.
Instead, the company confirmed that its owner, Art of Mobility, which is controlled by the Sardarov family, has been evaluating potential changes to MV Agusta’s shareholder structure.
According to MV Agusta, several opportunities have been explored, with some ultimately considered unviable while others did not meet the required standards. Other potential parties and scenarios remain under evaluation.
MV Agusta Undergoing Financial Restructuring
Following its separation from the KTM Group and the subsequent reacquisition of 100% of MV Agusta by Art of Mobility, the company said it has spent several months working to restore its operational, industrial and financial balance.
The separation from KTM resulted in what MV Agusta described as a significant transition period, following the level of integration between the two companies.
MV Agusta management has since been working to restore the company’s autonomy, internal processes and the conditions required for regular operations.
As part of this process, MV Agusta has entered the Composizione Negoziata della Crisi (CNC), a framework under Italian law designed to help companies address temporary financial imbalances through a structured process supported by independent professionals.
The CNC allows companies to assess their financial situation, engage with stakeholders and identify measures aimed at rebalancing and relaunching the business.
MV Agusta said entering the CNC requires concrete prospects for recovery and represents one of the tools supporting its ongoing restructuring process.
Retail Registrations Increase in 2026
Despite the current financial challenges, MV Agusta pointed to its commercial performance as evidence of continued customer demand for the brand.
During the first half of 2026, the company recorded 2,166 global retail registrations, representing a 3.4% increase compared with 2,094 units during the same period in 2025 on a like-for-like basis.
Italy, MV Agusta’s largest market, recorded the strongest increase among its key markets, with registrations rising 28.8% from 500 to 644 motorcycles. The company also reported growth of 42.3% in France and 24.2% in the United States.
MV Agusta acknowledged that these results do not eliminate its current operational and financial difficulties, but said they demonstrate continued demand for the brand and the contribution of its dealer network.
Production Status Remains Unclear
While recent reports have suggested that motorcycle production has been suspended, MV Agusta’s latest statement does not confirm a production halt.
The company instead said its management’s current priority is to ensure business continuity, consolidate operations and establish the conditions for the brand’s long-term future.
MV Agusta also criticised what it described as rumours and reports based on speculation or incomplete information, saying such reports could create unnecessary confusion during the ongoing process.
The company said it will not comment on individual rumours and will only announce significant developments regarding its corporate structure through its official channels once concrete and definitive conditions are in place.
For now, MV Agusta remains focused on navigating its restructuring process while continuing operations and preparing for the future of the Italian motorcycle brand.
