The country’s young racer, Hakim Danish Ramli, is determined to bounce back after facing a challenging weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix (GP) when his race ended early following an accident on the first lap at the Balaton Park Circuit.

Despite failing to collect any championship points, the AEON Credit-MT Helmets-MSi team rider sees the experience in Hungary as an important learning process in his first season on the Moto3 World Championship stage.

Hakim Danish arrived in Hungary with high confidence after scoring his first career podium at the Italian GP last week. However, a different challenge awaited him at Balaton Park as he made his debut at the circuit.

Struggling to Adapt to the New Circuit

Throughout the practice and qualifying sessions, the Terengganu-born racer worked hard to understand the technical and challenging nature of the circuit. Despite showing an improvement in lap times from one session to the next, Hakim Danish failed to qualify in the Second Qualifying session (Q2) and had to start the race from 19th place.

Starting the race aggressively to improve his position, Hakim Danish tried to close the gap with the front group in a fairly intense competition in the middle section.

However, his dream of collecting championship points was dashed when he was involved in an incident with CODE Motorsports rider Ruche Moodley at turn five on lap one. The collision caused both riders to fall and be unable to continue the race.

Hakim Danish Considers Experience Valuable

Although disappointed with the decision, Hakim Danish chose to take the positive side from his experience in Hungary.

“Of course I’m a bit disappointed that I couldn’t finish the race today after falling in the early laps due to an incident with another rider who hit me from behind. However, this is the nature of racing. Sometimes the unexpected can happen and we have to accept it as part of this sport.”

“Overall, the weekend in Hungary was quite challenging for me because it was my first time racing at this circuit. There are still many things I need to improve in terms of riding and understanding the circuit.

“I will take this experience as a very useful lesson to help me grow as a rider and perform better in the future.

“Now my focus is on the Czech Republic Grand Prix. I am very excited to be back racing and hope to be able to perform better and achieve positive results in the upcoming rounds,” he said.

Zulfahmi: Important Experience In Rookie Season

SIC Racing Team Manager, Zulfahmi Khairuddin, admitted that the Hungarian GP was indeed a difficult test for Hakim Danish, especially because Balaton Park is a circuit that requires a high level of confidence and experience.

According to him, although the 18-year-old racer has yet to find his best pace throughout the weekend, the effort shown is still commendable.

“This has certainly been a challenging weekend for Hakim Danish as I expected from the start. The Balaton Park circuit is a very technical circuit and demands a high level of confidence and experience from each rider.

“The most important thing is that Hakim did not suffer any injuries. That is the most positive thing to take from this race and I believe that the incident will not discourage him.”

“As a rider going through his first season in the Moto3 World Championship, experiences like this are part of the learning process that needs to be gone through.

“So far, collecting 48 points in the rookie season is a very good and proud achievement. It proves that Hakim Danish has the ability to compete at the highest level even though he is still in the learning phase,” he said.

Aiming for Revival in Brno

With the Hungarian GP now history, Hakim Danish and his team will turn their full attention to the Czech Republic Grand Prix which will take place at the Automotodrom Brno Circuit from June 19 to 21.

After collecting 48 championship points so far, the young national rider is determined to get back into the points scoring group and continue the positive momentum he has shown throughout his first season in the Moto3 World Championship.
