Traffic summonses issued by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) in Malaysia can sometimes catch drivers by surprise. Whether it’s a minor traffic violation or a parking ticket, staying on top of your summonses is crucial to avoid late payment fines or any potential legal issues. Fortunately, checking your JPJ summons has become simple and convenient. Let’s dive into some methods for you to do so.

Using the JPJ Official Website

One of the easiest ways to check your summons is through the JPJ e-Services portal. By visiting the official JPJ website, you can acces the MySikap section, log in to your account or sign up if you are a first time user, you can access the Summons or Penalties section, enter your IC number if you are an individual, or your company registration number if the vehicle is registered under a business, and then submit a search.

The system will display all your outstanding summonses, including details such as the summons number, type of offence, location, and the amount payable. You can also make online payments directly from the portal, which saves you a lot of time and effort.

Using the MyJPJ App

Another convenient method is using the MyJPJ mobile app, available for both Android and iOS devices. After downloading the MyJPJ app, users need to register an account or log in if they already have one. Through the app, there is an option to inquire about summonses.

The app will show any pending fines and also provide a direct way to pay them online, making it very practical for riders and drivers who are always on the move.

Checking via SMS

For those who prefer a quick solution without using the internet, JPJ also provides an SMS service. By sending an SMS with the format “JPJ SAMAN [your IC number or car number plate]” to 15888, you will receive a reply detailing any outstanding summonses. This method is simple and effective, particularly for those who do not have easy access to a computer or mobile internet.

Visiting a JPJ Counter

If you prefer in-person assistance, visiting a JPJ office remains a reliable option. By bringing your IC or vehicle registration details to the nearest JPJ counter, you can request a summons check from the customer service officers. They will provide an official printout of any pending summonses, which is especially useful for legal or official purposes.

Tips to Avoid Missing JPJ Summons

To avoid missing any JPJ summons, it is recommended to check regularly using one of the available methods, keep your vehicle and personal information updated, and set reminders for payment deadlines. By staying proactive, you can manage fines efficiently, avoid unnecessary penalties, and focus on your daily driving without having any worries.
