The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has announced an additional 10,000 slots for the MyLesen B2 programme this year, bringing more opportunities for Malaysians, especially youth from the B40 income group, to obtain their motorcycle license for free.

The programme covers the full RM350 cost per Class B2 motorcycle license (for motorcycles up to 250cc), with the latest allocation adding RM3.5 million to the initiative’s total funding for 2025.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke, revealed that 97% of the original 15,000 slots were snapped up within the first six months of the year. “We’ll add 10,000 to the quota starting mid-year, nationwide. The cost for each license is fully covered by the ministry,” said Loke, as reported by Bernama.

The MyLesen B2 programme reflects the government’s commitment to helping youth in the gig economy, enabling better job access and improving socioeconomic conditions through legal and safe motorcycle riding. Loke also encouraged schools to assist in identifying students riding without licenses and guide them into the programme.

He further expressed hope that successful participants will go on to become road safety ambassadors, promoting responsible riding and awareness of traffic regulations.

What You Get With the MyLesen B2 Programme:

  • Free motorcycle license training
  • Theory classes and practical lessons
  • Driving test fees fully covered
  • License for motorcycles up to 250cc (Class B2)
  • Conducted at accredited driving institutes
  • 100% funded by the Government via the MoT

This move supports the government’s broader goal to reduce unlicensed riders on the road while opening up safe and legal avenues for employment, especially for those entering the delivery and logistics sectors.
