Bimota is making a highly anticipated return to the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship in 2025, unveiling its new KB998 Rimini machine with riders Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani leading the charge.

The Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team showcased its fresh livery, marking the Italian manufacturer’s comeback to WorldSBK for the first time since 2014. The 2025 design features a striking shift from the Kawasaki green of 2024 to a bold red, white, and black scheme.

New Machine, New Ambitions

The KB998 Rimini is powered by an in-line four-cylinder engine delivering over 220 horsepower, capable of reaching top speeds of approximately 320 km/h. The bike features a split chassis design, incorporating a steel front trellis and aluminium alloy plates. Showa provides the suspension, while Brembo supplies the braking system, ensuring top-tier performance for Bimota’s return to the grid.

A Legacy of Success

Bimota holds a unique place in WorldSBK history. At the inaugural World Superbike round at Donington Park in 1988, Davide Tardozzi secured the first-ever race victory on Bimota machinery. That debut season saw the brand claim seven wins, with three more following in 1989.

The turn of the millennium brought another milestone when Anthony Gobert clinched Bimota’s last WorldSBK win to date at Phillip Island in 2000. The manufacturer later withdrew from the competition, making a brief return in 2014 before exiting again.

Now, under the Kawasaki Heavy Industries umbrella, Bimota is back with a chassis of its own design, powered by Kawasaki’s formidable engine. With Lowes and Bassani at the helm, the team aims to revive its winning legacy and establish itself as a force in the 2025 season.
