The Sepang International Circuit (SIC), renowned for motorsports events, is set to take on a new role next year as one of the locations for a Ramadan bazaar in the Sepang area.
According to Bernama, the initiative was announced by the Deputy President of the Sepang Municipal Council (MP Sepang), Muhamad Shah Osmin. The partnership between MP Sepang and the SIC management will offer 80 trading sites at the Sepang Circuit throughout the holy month, beginning on February 28, 2025.
This move is part of MP Sepang’s effort to meet local demand by expanding Ramadan bazaar locations. A total of 12 bazaars, comprising 866 plots, will be set up across the district. Other venues include Kip Mall Cyberjaya, Taman Mas, Desa Pinggiran Putra, Kosmopleks, Taman Putra Perdana, Sungai Merab, Dengkil Jaya, Dengkil, Sungai Pelek, and Sepang Putra.
In addition to the new bazaar, a zero-use plastic straw program and improvements to the Plastic-Free Program, aimed at reducing single-use plastics, will be enforced in 2025. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own food containers to support the 2025 Plastic-Free Campaign.
Muhamad Shah also highlighted initiatives in line with Visit Selangor Year (TMS) 2025, aimed at enhancing tourism infrastructure in the district. These include paving roads and installing LED decorative lights on the border between Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
This dual focus on sustainability and tourism improvement reflects Sepang’s efforts to diversify its appeal beyond motorsports.
