CFMoto made waves at the EICMA 2024, not only by showcasing its latest motorcycle lineup but also by unveiling its groundbreaking V4 engine, the “Core of Speed,” designed entirely in-house by the Chinese manufacturer.

The new CFMoto V.04 engine is a 1,000cc powerhouse built for track performance, featuring a counter-rotating crankshaft and a 90º V4 configuration. With a peak output of 156kW (209hp) at 14,500rpm and a maximum torque of 114Nm at 12,500rpm, this engine boasts exceptional power. Weighing just 61.5kg (without oil), the V.04 achieves an impressive power-to-weight ratio, allowing for greater agility and responsiveness on the racetrack.

CFMoto drew inspiration from MotoGP technologies to enhance the V.04’s performance, despite the brand not currently competing in the MotoGP series. The engine incorporates a counter-rotating crankshaft, which provides increased stability during cornering and reduces the wheelie effect, essential for high-speed manoeuvring.

Engine highlights include an advanced “finger-follower” valve timing system, secondary overhead fuel injectors, and uniquely shaped oval exhaust ports, all of which reflect high-precision engineering.

CFMoto’s strategic collaboration with Pierer Mobility Group, the parent company of KTM which races in MotoGP, has fueled the company’s ongoing drive toward high-performance innovation. This V4 engine marks what CFMoto describes as a new product phase, signalling a potential future expansion into other market segments.

In addition to the V4 engine, CFMoto introduced the “Master of Speed” concept bike at EICMA. While primarily a design prototype rather than a production model, the concept captivated onlookers with its streamlined appearance and cutting-edge features. With enclosed wheels and prominent fairing winglets, it has the look of a high-performance racing machine, though it’s not road-ready just yet.

While further details are yet to be announced, the CFMoto V.04 engine has already captured attention as a milestone in the brand’s pursuit of competitive racing technology. Racing enthusiasts and industry followers are eagerly anticipating what’s next for CFMoto as it continues to expand its presence in high-performance engineering and motorsport innovation.
