This weekend, the FIM MiniGP Malaysia Series 2024 reaches its mid-season mark with the action shifting to the MORAC Adventure Park Circuit in Langkawi. This circuit offers a new challenge for many of the riders, particularly the young participants in the SIC Ohvale Junior Championship, as they face the demanding 1,300-meter track for the first time.

Journey So Far

The season began with thrilling races at the Tangkak Circuit in Johor in May. This was then followed by intense competition at the Sepang International Go-Kart Circuit last month. Now, the competitors head to Langkawi, a legendary island, to continue their quest for glory in the 110cc junior class, the 160cc category, and the premier 190cc class. Additionally, riders aim to secure a coveted spot to represent Malaysia at the World Finals in Valencia, Spain, this November.

The Langkawi Challenge

The MORAC Langkawi Circuit, with its 21 challenging corners, is renowned as a world-class racing venue. Riders must be in peak physical and mental condition. This is to ensure top-notch riding skills to navigate this demanding track and outperform their rivals.

To prepare for this crucial round, the riders will participate in four practice sessions on Saturday. They will then take part in a fifth session on Sunday morning. These sessions will lead to the qualifying rounds and two competitive races, where riders will aim to solidify their standings in the championship.

Current Standings

110cc Junior Class:
After two rounds, Al-Adam Mikail leads the SIC Ohvale Junior Championship 110cc with 91 points. Nufayl Darwisy trails closely with 81 points. On the other hand, Vietnamese riders Nguyen Minh Tuan, Harith Fazzul Iman, and Rayqarl Alhayy share third place with 42 points each.

160cc Category:
In the fiercely competitive FIM MiniGP Malaysia Series 160cc, Vietnamese rider Nguyen Viet Tuan tops the standings with 86 points, just nine points ahead of Airel Marzuki, who has 77 points. Qayyim Razin holds third place with 64 points.

190cc Premier Class:
Qabil Irfan dominates the premier 190cc class. He has achieved a perfect score of 100 points after four races. Defending champion Farish Hafiy is in second place with 73 points. Trailing behind him is Adam Aiman in third place with 61 points.

Team Manager’s Perspective

Zulfahmi Khairuddin, Team Manager of ZK Racing, anticipates a challenging third round at the MORAC Langkawi Circuit, especially for riders with no prior experience on this track. He has observed local riders being heavily challenged by international competitors, particularly at the Sepang International Go-Kart Circuit. In response, many local riders have intensified their training in preparation for Round 3. Khairuddin expects fierce competition in the 110cc and 160cc classes. For the 190cc class, he predicts Qabil Irfan will continue to lead the competition. However, he hopes to see increased efforts from Irfan’s challengers to provide tougher competition in Langkawi.

As the FIM MiniGP Malaysia Series 2024 continues to captivate motorsport fans, all eyes will be on Langkawi this weekend to witness which riders will conquer the challenging MORAC Adventure Park Circuit and take a step closer to becoming champions.
