Choosing the Right Motorcycle Engine Oil

Choosing the Right Motorcycle Engine Oil
Sathurshan
January 26, 2021

Having a hard time trying to find the right engine oil for your motorcycle? We think Shell’s Advance range of Semi and fully Synthetic motorcycle engine oil can be a good fit for your two-wheeled companion!

To keep our well-loved bike up and running at the best of its ability, proper care and maintenance are necessary. Apart from washing and choosing the right fuel, our two-wheeled machine needs its tires at the right pressure, chains lubed, battery charged, and most importantly the engine needs to be well-oiled because it’s technically the heart of the machine.

With many selections in the market, bikers are faced with a plethora of options. To make it easier for all bikers out there, we have come up with a solution for you; just think of Shell Advance! Shell Advance is designed to protect your engine and keep your bike running smoothly and responding perfectly.

Speaking of Shell’s Advance range of 4T motorcycle engine oils, Shell offers a wide range of products. These include; Shell Advance Power, Shell Advance Long Ride, Shell Advance Ultra, Shell Advance AX7, Shell Advance AX5 and Shell Advance AX3.

Today we will be taking a look at Shell’s top tier premium semi-synthetic Shell Advance AX7 motorcycle engine oil and the premium fully synthetic Shell Advance Ultra motorcycle engine oil.

So, why choose Shell Advance?

Shell Advance lubricants from the Ultra, AX7 or Long Ride ranges, are formulated to protect your engine in five ways:

1. Protects against wear

Wear and tear can be critical to your bike’s performance. With Shell Advance Ultra and AX7, your bike will be protected against engine wear 36% better than API limits. So you can focus on the road and outride anything.

2. Maintains horsepower

When you’re on the road you want your bike to perform at the optimum level. Shell’s field trials have demonstrated that with Shell Advance in your engine, there is no power loss throughout your journey up to 12,000 km.

3. Enhances fuel economy

When you’re on a ride you want to be able to go further for longer. Based on field tests, compared to premium mineral oils,  Shell Advance Ultra improves fuel economy by 5km/l while the Advance AX7 improves fuel economy by 3km/l, giving you the confidence to always go the extra mile.

4. Guards against high temperatures

With Shell Advance you can be confident that you can outride the heat because the semi-synthetic Shell Advance AX7 has been formulated to perform 29% better while the fully synthetic Shell Advance Ultra has been formulated to perform up to 71% better at high temperatures compared to a leading competitor.

5. Keep pistons clean

The cleaner your bike’s engine, the better it performs. Again, the Shell Advance AX7 and Shell Advance Ultra clean pistons 33% and 49% better than a leading competitor, so you can be confident with your engine’s health.

Shell Advance AX7 & Shell Advance Ultra Viscosity grades

The Shell Advance AX7 is available in two viscosity grades: 10W-30, 10W-40 and 15W-50. On the other hand, the Shell Advance Ultra is available in 10W-40 and 15W-50 viscosity grades.  To choose the right engine oil and viscosity grade for your motorcycle, please refer to your manufacturer’s guideline or use Shell’s online LubeMatch tool here.

Where to buy?

The Shell Advance AX 7 and Shell Advance Ultra can be purchased from any Shell stations near you!
