Yamaha Motor Europe expands its partnership with Monster Energy.
Yamaha Motor Europe has announced that its partnership with Monster Energy in MXGP will now be extended to the official Yamaha Rally squad. Now renamed Monster Energy Yamaha Rally Team, the team will be taking on all five rounds of the 2020 FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship. The championship will take place in three continents, featuring events in the Middle East, North Africa, Asia and South America. The team is aiming for the ultimate title.
The 2020 FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship will commence with the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in March. The next event will be in May for the Rally Kazakhstan. In July, the team will be participating in the 8000 km Silk Way Rally. It will start in Moscow’s Red Square and end in China. Then, the team will head across the Atlantic for the Rally dos Sertões in Brazil the following month. The last event will be the Rally Du Maroc in North Africa in October.
Monster Energy Yamaha Rally Team to tackle the Dakar Rally
The Monster Energy Yamaha Rally Team will also be contesting in the 2020 Dakar Rally. The infamous rally will take place in Asia for the first time in Saudi Arabia. This marks a shift from the usual venues in South America for the past 10 years. The Dakar Rally will consist of 12 stages and cover a total of 7500km. The line-up for Monster Energy Yamaha will include Adrien van Beveren, Xavier De Soultrair, Franco Caimi and Jamie McCanney.
This will be the second time in a span of 40 years that Dakar route is within a single country. It has been noted that Yamaha is not comfortable with this format and encourages the organizer to return to the original spirit of a true multi-country adventure.
