First images of the Aprilia RS660 emerge

First images of the Aprilia RS660 emerge

Set to arrive in 2020 the new Aprilia RS660 will be revealed in November during the EICMA show but new images reveal how the supersport will look like.

Aprilia latest dream is the new supersport RS660. The Noale factory already confirmed the production version to be revealed during the EICMA Milan show, but new images reveal how the bike will look like.

We are only five months away from the official reveal, but British website BikeSocial has managed to get their hands on a set of computer-generated images of the new RS660. This bike will take Aprilia name to the supersport segment when it arrives in 2020.

From the images, it becomes clear that Aprilia will make some changes comparing to the prototype.

With a twin-cylinder engine pumping out around 100 hp, the RS660 will be a very light bike. The design hasn’t changed much compared to the concept bike seen at EICMA 2018. It’s an aggressive bike, like a supersport needs to be. The MotoGP inspired wings aren’t so obvious on the production version. The side fairings are a bit smaller to improve engine cooling. And the fairings won’t be in carbon fiber but in plastic.

Chassis components remain fairly unchanged from what we’ve seen. Meaning that Aprilia will use upside-down forks, radial monoblock brake calipers, a low-slung exhaust, and a set of lightweight wheels.

Some rumors point to Aprilia bringing two versions of the RS660 to the market. A less expensive version and a Factory version. The Factory version should feature premium components like Brembo M50 brakes and Öhlins suspensions.

The famous aPRC electronic package seen on the RSV4 should also be used on the new RS660.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
