Untitled Motorcycles transforms BMW R80 Street Scrambler into custom ‘Silver City’

Untitled Motorcycles has taken the magnificent BMW R80 and transformed it into the Silver City, with quality upgrades and tweak to render this a true custom beauty. For the past nine years the firm has been running, there are definitely significant changes in the custom scene. “It used to be we worked on mainly 1970’s classics,” he says, “rebuilding engines and gearboxes. And that takes time and money. Now we’ve got more time it gives us the freedom to do what we really love. Design and fabrication.” When a guy came up to their London workshops officer with the BMW R80, they knew that this was a start of something beautiful. “It had parts from quite a few different ages, including an off-road Kawasaki front end. The owner wanted to sell it there and then and I could see the potential in customising it sometime in the future.” “We wanted to turn it into a GS-style bike with a large Dakar tank,” Adam says, “but after a long chat we went for the toaster as it would suit the town riding the customer wanted.” “We planned for the tiny dash of colour on the Silver City matches the second-hand on his favourite watch,” he recalls. The engine received major changes. “We got the engine and running gear out and took it back to a factory-fresh state then we got the tank on the bike ASAP to work on the lines from the front to the back, making sure that everything is in a straight line. We also wanted to make our own silencer to keep the rear wheel totally clean of anything,” he says. “It’s not hard-working on them because we’ve done so many now but what is difficult is getting everything coordinated to make the flow of the build go well. A missing or delayed part can slow the job down and have a big impact on our other jobs in the shop.” The front ended was changed back to standard BMW forks fitted with double Brembo callipers and a spoked wheel. The battery was moved below the swingarm.
