Three builders made a grand impression at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip last week as they unveiled three custom Scout Bobbers as the final pre-voting stage in the Wrench competition. The bikes presented are a full-blown chopper built steel and brass, a café racer with a hand-formed fairing, and a detailed swingarm chop.
Fred Juarez is a NASA flammability tester from Las Cruces, New Mexico. He spent three months coming up with his chopper and it certainly did not disappoint. Fred built the bike around his home, including the entire frame, girder front end, and hand-shaped copper panels.
Christian Newman is an engineer of mining equipment from Buffalo, New York. He built a swingarm chopper with a Crazy Frank rear fender, machined swingarm, machined rear wheel and a narrowed gas tank. All of the machined parts he made were polished to a mirror finish, making this one a real spectacle up close.
PJ Grakauskas worked as a safety inspector for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration back in Cleveland, Ohio. The entire build was done in the shed behind his house. The bikes come with Beringer brakes, Öhlins suspension, and SuperTrapp exhaust, it certainly raises the bar high when it comes to performance. His café racer was impeccable.
