Over 1,100 Nangka residents obtained motorcycle licences through the MyLesen B2 programme at UTS, promoting safer, more inclusive road access for the B40 community.

A total of 1,114 residents from Nangka received their motorcycle licences under the MyLesen B2 programme held at UTS yesterday. The event aimed to help low-income individuals obtain legal riding credentials at an affordable cost.
Sarawak JPJ Deputy Director Norazlan Ibrahim said the oldest participants were 56 and 64 years old, while the youngest were 16 years old. He described the programme as a strong example of collaboration between JPJ, government agencies, and private organisations.
Norazlan credited Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, who is also the Nangka assemblyman, for his continuous support of the initiative. The programme, he added, represents the Transport Ministry’s CSR effort to help the B40 group gain proper riding licences.
He shared alarming statistics from MIROS, revealing that about 6,000 Malaysians die in road accidents each year. This means an average of 19 to 20 fatalities occur daily on Malaysian roads.
In a press statement, Dr Annuar reminded new licence holders to act as role models for other road users. He urged them to practice responsibility and discipline to help reduce national accident rates.
The government aims to cut Malaysia’s road fatalities by 50 percent by 2030, in line with its safety vision. The event was organised by the PBB Nangka branch, with strong community involvement and participation.
Sayed Azmee Wan Junaidi, political secretary to the Premier, attended the ceremony on behalf of Dr Annuar. The MyLesen B2 programme continues to empower communities through mobility access, safety education, and shared social responsibility.
