The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced a special flat-rate compound fee of RM150 for three specific traffic offences, effective from 3rd January to 30th June 2025. This initiative aims to encourage motorists to settle their outstanding fines at a 50% discounted rate.

The three offences covered under this special rate include Summons 53A (AwAS Summons) for speeding violations or running red lights captured by the AwAS camera system, Notice 114 (Interview Notice), and Notice 115 (Sticker Summons Notice by JPJ). Transport Minister Anthony Loke highlighted that the usual fine for these offences is RM300.

Loke stated that the initiative is part of a broader effort to resolve over two million unresolved violations, some dating back to 2018. Restrictions will be placed on individuals who fail to settle their fines within the given timeframe.

“To address this, we are providing this special compound rate for six months to enable those with unpaid summonses to settle them promptly.

“Failure to settle these outstanding summonses will result in restrictions, such as being unable to renew their driving licences or vehicle licences. This special rate aims to assist individuals in resolving their overdue summonses,” he said at a press conference.

This initiative is not a discount but a strategic measure to clear outstanding fines before the deadline. Payments can be made through JPJ counters, the Public Portal, JPJ kiosks, JPJ mobile counters, and the MyJPJ application. However, MyEG and Pos Malaysia services are excluded from this program.

Additionally, during this six-month period, the accumulation of demerit points will be suspended. Those who pay their fines within this grace period will not incur any demerit points, as the Enforcement Division is reviewing the demerit point system’s implementation.

Motorists who fail to settle their fines by 30 June will not be allowed to renew their road tax or driving licence. According to the minister, many motorists are unaware that they have been blacklisted due to unpaid fines.
