Malaysia’s talented rider, Azroy Hakeem Anuar, proudly celebrated his third win of the season in front of a home crowd at Sepang, waving the national flag from the top of the SuperSport 600 (SS600) podium.
The Boon Siew Honda Racing Team rider clinched victory with a time of 22’01:801s, narrowly beating Astra Honda Racing Team’s Adenanta, who finished just behind with 22’01:890s.
The final lap delivered more drama when Yamaha Tekhne’s McKinley Kyle Paz made an unforced error at the last corner, allowing Veda Ega Pratama from Astra Honda Racing Team to claim third place with a time of 22’02:350s, ensuring an all-Honda podium with both Malaysian and Indonesian riders.
Azroy, reflecting on his victory, said, “A big thanks to my team after yesterday’s struggles. Today was still challenging, but my goal was to stay with the front group no matter what. I fought hard every lap to maintain the first position.”
“I knew Adenanta was strong, so I had to make a quick move in the last lap. Thankfully, everything went well in the final corner, and I’m grateful for the win. We will be even stronger for the next round in Buriram,” he said.
This victory was especially meaningful for Azroy, as he had encountered engine troubles the previous day, finishing just off the podium in fourth place.
