Rising star Fermín Aldeguer officially joins Gresini Racing for the upcoming 2024 season. The 19-year-old Spaniard, who dominated the latter part of the 2023 Moto2 season, has secured a coveted seat with Ducati, making his highly anticipated debut in the premier class.
Aldeguer’s transition to MotoGP comes after signing a deal with Ducati in March, with the specific team yet to be confirmed at the time. With all other five Ducati riders already locked in, Gresini Racing’s seat became available following Marc Marquez’s move to the factory Ducati team.
Expressing his thrill at the opportunity, Aldeguer stated, “I’m incredibly excited to join the Gresini family; this is a dream come true to make my MotoGP debut with the best bike on the grid and a fantastic team with a rich history of iconic riders.”
Gresini Racing team owner Nadia Padovani welcomed Aldeguer to the family, emphasizing the team’s commitment to nurturing young talent. “We’re delighted to have one of the most promising young riders in the series join our team,” Padovani said. “Our goal is to support him and help him achieve the kind of results that define us.”
In addition to Aldeguer’s signing, Gresini Racing also announced an extension of their partnership with Ducati until 2026. This long-term seems to fulfil the commitment and solidify the team’s position as a key player in the MotoGP grid.
Luigi Dall’Igna, Ducati Corse General Manager, expressed his enthusiasm, “We’re very happy to extend our partnership with the Gresini family until 2026. The team led by Nadia Padovani has achieved great goals in recent years while showing all its strength and professionalism.
Team Gresini Racing has brought several riders – some of them very young – to winning ways. This is why we’re sure that this is the ideal squad to welcome Fermín Aldeguer and accompany him in his MotoGP debut season. Looking forward to more exciting times together!”
