News is that Joan Mir is talking to Ducati about joining their team for the 2024 MotoGP season. Sources report that he is “in negotiations for several situations”. This means that Mir would leave Honda by the end of the year in preparation for the next season.
The Spaniard is eyeing a spot in the Gresini Racing team within the Ducati set-up if the team does not continue with Fabio di Giannantonio.
However, Mir may not be the only candidate as Tony Arbolino is stepping up from Moto2, and Johann Zarco is also eyeing a reshuffle which may see him move to Pramac.
Mir is still in his first year as a Repsol Honda rider and according to his contract, the team is able to keep him for the next season. However, due to the disappointing performance this season, Mir is hoping for a step up.
The 2020 World Champion only managed to complete one grand prix this season in Portimao. After that, his campaign has been a series of crashes.
