Ninebot announces its latest C30 electric moped/ electric scooter with an affordable price tag to shake up the electric urban mobility sector.
A few months earlier, parent company of Ninebot, Segway launched the C-series electric scooter/electric bike line up. The latest announcement by Xiaomi owned company, Ninebot, is the addition of a new electric moped to their line up; The Ninebot C30. A few months earlier, Ninebot launched the bigger siblings of C30, the C40, C,60 and C80. Although the other C series mopeds are fairly cheap, the C30 brings in a new meaning to the term affordability; which is why we decided to feature it today. Priced at 3,599 yuan or US$514, the C30 is probably one of those decent electric scooters that you could purchase using your piggy bank savings.
The C-Series
Although all the models from the C-series ( C30-C80) look fairly similar and have a top speed of 25 km/h, the real difference between the models is in their names. Underneath the cover, the C40 comes with a Li-ion 15 Ah battery pack and has a range of 40 kilometres, the C60, on the other hand, comes with a 20 Ah battery and has a range of 60 kilometres. In the case of the C80, it has a range of 80 kilometres and packs a 24 Ah battery.
Aside from this, the weight of the model lies around the 50kg mark depending on the size of the battery. Given that’s the case, the cheapest moped in the lineup (C30) would have a range of 30 kilometres. As for the battery capacity and weight, there aren’t any official figures yet, however, it would definitely pack a battery lower than a 15Ah and weigh close to the C40.
As for the brakes, floating mono disc up front and drum brake at the rear takes care of the business. Suspension duties are taken care by telescopic forks upfront and a mono-shock at the rear. Aside from this, the C30 and C series, in general; come with BMS (battery management system), NFC lock, smart positioning, smart alarm and constant speed cruise as standard.
For now, the Ninebot C30 is sold only in China; however, knowing Xiaomi we think the Ninebot C30 would surely make it outside of China. On top of this, the bigger siblings of the C30 are already available in some countries, so it’s just a matter of time for C30 to hit markets outside of China.
