The firm to come up with new bikes by the end of next year?
One of the major names in the motorcycle industry, KTM, is working on a 490cc engine platform. The Austrian firm is also bringing the 125hp 890 Duke R engine to the supermoto and adventure segment.
Pierer Mobility managed to showcase the future for the brand’s bikes through a presentation- which is a new 490 cc engine platform. The new bikes will feature twin-cylinder engines. The models include the KTM 490 Duke, 490 Adventure, RC490, 490 SMC R and 490 Enduro R.
According to KTM President, Stefan Pierer, the firm is developing the 500cc powerplants in India with Bajaj. As per Drive Mag, the 490cc bikes will be made mainly for the India and European markets.
As for the 890cc models, this will include the KTM 890 Duke R. It has a twin-cylinder engine capable of producing 125 hp. The new bikes will be the 890 Adventure, 890 SMC and 890 Enduro R.
The firm will probably launch the 490cc models in late 2020.
